Adam Update 2007
It's been a year since the last Adam Update email, so if you haven't been keeping up, here's a little message to bring everyone up to speed... and also to help me remember what happened in 2007. If you have trouble reading this email, click here. Best of 2007Once again, we've got a new the-year-in-pictures page, so head on over to check out the Best of 2007! Congratulations to all those who made it this year. As usual this is a series of snapshots illustrating all the fun stuff that we all did through out the year. They're not award winning photos, but they should certainly be entertaining. Don't forget to look for the secret tool-tip captions if you're using Internet Explorer. Here's some highlights: Click here for more of the Best of 2007 including Vera Wang, Alison Krauss, Colbie Caillat, beautiful weddings, concerts, sports, and cake. PhotographyPhotography is still a major part of my life. I've been doing plenty of professional work in model photography, business portraits, and weddings. WritingI'm still writing reviews and commentary for PocketNow.com as a Senior Editor. My HTC TyTN II review was probably the most popular this year and is widely regarded as the best out there. My series of commentary called The Chronicles of a Windows Mobile User Gone Symbian was also very popular since I provided an extensive comparison between to pros and cons between both operating systems.
Oh, and if you're at the book store and want to see my name/work in print yet again, be sure to pick up a copy of the Illustrator CS 3 Wow Book! DesignIn the design world of Adam, 2007 has been a bit tougher than normal. The Eldridge Street Museum project took up a lot of overtime, and an unforeseen coworker's family death made it double the work. But all turned out well, and the museum is a big success. I used a secure Sharepoint site to organize all the content with the client and production company to develop signage, interpretive graphics, and exhibit graphics for the museum. I can't imagine how we could have kept organized without such a useful collaborative environment. We also received 3 American Design awards, one of which was for my cutting edge New Harbor Entertainment site redesign which combines Flash video graphics with a nice full-window length javascript animation. I also created a new site for CUNY's Union Semester and Worker Education divisions. These sites were based on the DotNetNuke ASP.NET 2.0 Content Management System. After installing the system to a compatible server and configuring the SQL database, I created custom "themes" that were applied site-wide to give it a unique look. I also had to develop a couple custom .NET modules for use in the sites. Another part of that project was teaching learning seminars to the CUNY staff such that they can easily maintain and add content to the site themselves. And of course, the Biotechnology Industry Organization remains a major client. We're constantly creating print, web and other marketing materials for their conferences. Adam Lein's StyleIn case you haven't noticed already, I updated my personal website at AdamLein.com with a new look and a new name. Now we're mostly all completely CSS driven save a few pages that still haven't been updated in over 10 years. That's okay, they still work. Anyway, welcome to the year 2008. Try to remember that when you refer to the "Turn of the Century," you are referring to 1999.
Sincerely, |
